About Alonso's Teaching

Alonso has been teaching guitar since 1993. His strengths as a teacher are:

• Highly developed natural ear to the point of impeccability. He can listen to any song or piece by ear and have it worked out in minutes.
  
  
• Applying theory and technique. Alonso always uses examples, songs, or pieces to apply the theory or technique presented. He never teaches theory for it's own sake, but either applies the theory to songs or songs to theory.
  
  
• A great sense of patience, developed throughout his career as a teacher.  
  
  
• Tailoring lessons to each individual student.

Both personally and musically, Alonso is a very inspiring person and have been a mentor to many students. He has an uncanny ability to relate to people with varying personalities and of differing ages. His personal approach is light-hearted and laid-back. He seeks to make people of all ages and personalities comfortable, which allows for a balanced reciprocal relationship between instructor and student. Students not only learn, but also have a lot of fun in their lessons.
